Who We Are?

It starts with Marianne

Sometimes you meet someone who changes your life forever. Marianne, was that person for us. Our dear friend and mentor passed away suddenly a few years ago. She is the main inspiration for our little shop (and memorialized as our mascot), and the only reason we have any fiber know-how.

A collector of hobbies, from homesteading, to herbalism, to fiber arts, to oil painting, to writing, and finally to YouTube-ing (and who knows how many others), she took joy in the goodness of each day, and lived with grace through the bad, and always had space and food at her table for another friend. While we may not know you personally, we promise, she would’ve loved you.

We proudly walk in her footsteps, carrying on her legacy of joyfully greeting each day, sharing our skills, and opening our table and our lives to you.

We're Pattie & Jenaya

We’re a mother/daughter duo based in Idaho. We work out of two small studio spaces: a spare bedroom in Jenaya’s house in Middleton, and Pattie’s dye studio (aka, her kitchen) in Caldwell.

We dye 99.99% of our fiber in-house, and card all of our batts with wild abandon on Rosie, our hard-working electric drum carder. Our rovings are carefully selected from a family-owned mill that’s based in the USA.

We’re always up to fiber-related shenanigans (and others too, if we’re being completely honest), and we’re so glad you’re here for the adventure!

Pattie

Pattie learned to knit when she was nine–using heavy rug yarn and making a pair of slippers and a potholder. Her efforts earned her the lowest possible ribbon in 4-H at the County Fair.

Now she is a kettle dyeing queen, batt designer, spinner, knitter, weaver, felter, and an all things fiber extraordinaire!

She dyes 99.99% of JayDü’s fluff, and all of it in her two-burner dye studio (aka, her kitchen).

Jenaya

Pattie, taught Jenaya how to knit at school, as a method for training fine motor-skills. Jenaya hated it so much that, at the sassy age of six, boldly proclaimed that she was never ever going to be knitting ever again.

Many years later, she got the idea for JayDü while sitting practically hobby-less in her 400 sq ft studio apartment.

Now she does a bit of everything (still with sassiness), from batt design, spinning, knitting, website wrangling, and designing all the little JayDü critters.
