fine, i like it: from jenaya

Marianne plunked me down in front of her spinning wheel on the little chair that Tom built, and Marianne painted in her favorite motif–sunflowers and chickens, and I started treadling little Louella. It all clicked, and it wasn’t too long until I had a little blob of knobby pink yarn.

Fast forward a couple of years and I decided, much to everyone’s surprise, including my own, to take knitting in 4-H. I had seen a pair of lacy fingerless gloves that I wanted; given the household I grew up in my first thought was, “I could make those,” so I did. It turns out that knitting is actually quite fun, and very satisfying. In the same way that I made the pink wool turn into yarn, I make yarn turn into gloves. It was magic, but understandable magic. I have been knitting ever since.
